Water Companies Appealing? Appalling!

jon posted this 20th January 2010 2:51pm

Our friends over at SAS have been down in Cardiff this week campaigning against 6 water companies trying to abstain from responsibility of their overflowing sewers that flow diretly in to UK seas and rivers. The pollutants leaking out can cause diarrhoea. Ecoli 0157 H, Paralysis/Meningitis, fever, Mild or influenzal typhodial illness and more. Nasty stuff.

Andy Cummins of SAS said this:

“By Appealing these discharges the water companies are asking for a free rein to pollute our seas and rivers, that’s not appealing to us!  The water companies have had 20 years to sort this out, in that time they’ve enjoyed handsome profits, isn’t it about time they looked after the environment and public health as well as their bottom line.”

Good on them, I hope the water boards take note. I can remember a session at Porthcawl where there were tampons, crisp packets and all sorts of filth floating around!
