This is a sneak preview trailer for a one off exhibition of 3 deckades of skateboard art that howies and Shiners Distribution are curating at howies 62 Queens Road store in Bristol running from April 17th.

There will also be a series of one off decks painted by guest artists that will be auctioned for unicef at the end of the exhibition. All boards are hand painted, Jim Phillips, Geoff McFetridge, Pete Fowler, French, Kev Grey, Will Barras, Mr Jago, China Mike, Marcus Oakley, Andy J Miller, Chris Bourke, Mr Bingo, Bowlegs, Millie Marotta, Gav Strange, Danny Wainwright, Jethro Haynes and Nigel Peake’s boards will all be on show for the month.
To accompany the current exhibition here at the Carnaby store we have a limited run of Jessie Ford women’s tees on sale.

So tonight we have a Wee Do talk with Tom and Lara who wrote the blog World in Slow Motion, at the Carnaby store. We still have a few free tickets left, so get in touch if you’d like to come along…should be a really great evening.
On a similar note…
A guy I know (Rowan) and his friend Billy are going to be travelling to Cairo using only overground travel. The purpose of the trip- Rowan (a.k.a. Dizraeli) is an award winning rapper, who has been given an opportunity to perform Rebel Cell in Egypt. He is an environmental activist and has vowed to never fly again….hence the trip…oh and his friend Billy is a documentary film maker who is going to accompany him. They have built a website from which they will broadcast their journey as a daily blog, weekly video diary and finally documentary film.
So I was asked to help them promote it- if you can help to finance their trip in any way (they are having a fundraiser in Dalston, London on Wednesday night), follow their travels and most importantly take inspiration from how they are choosing to explore other coutries. They really want to illustrate how easy train travel is in the hopes to make a positive impact.
On my lunch breaks I really enjoy trawling through the internet to find what random events are going on in London.
Well today I stumbled across this film festival Birds Eye View- celebrating women filmmakers. It’s on at the BFI Southbank from the 4th- 12th March. (tickets are on sale through their website)
They have some amazing UK film premieres, that even if you cannot make it to the event are well worth a look. I particuarly want to watch Amreeka- the story of a mother and son immigrating to the US in a post 9/11 world. This film was written and directed by Cherien Dabis, Palistinian herself but brought up in the States. Should be really thought provoking!
It is a low-cost eye-tracking apparatus & custom software that allows graffiti writers and artists with paralysis resulting from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis to draw using only their eyes.
So now I am furiously crocheting away at every spare moment I get. The colours they will be available in are black, brown, breton blue, electric blue, teal, red, hot pink; and possibly lime and yellow (I’m currently hunting down more wool from my supplier).
Hopefully a limited number should be available online by next week. In the mean time I will be…mostly crocheting!
If you are going to be doing your Christmas shopping in London this weekend, it would be worth checking out the Fair Trade Christmas Fayre at the Salvation Army on Oxford Street. They’ve got eco gifts, recycled gift wrapping, a craft workshop, a free clothes swap shop and live music and refreshments.
It is ambitious to head out to Oxford street on the first Advent Saturday…it’s not for the faint hearted! I think this would be a nice incentive to go, and a haven from all the madness (as well as our shop of course!). I still have flash back memories as a kid, being lost on Oxford Street doing the Christmas shopping with my family. People can get vicious!
On our Staircase Gallery wall we currently have an exhibiton from Brighton based illustrator Graham Carter. They are really stunning prints, so come on down and check them out! The exhibiton “Monsters, Owls and Antlers” is running until 14th December.

Today may be a rainy, grey day outside the Bristol shop, but inside, the Drift Collective exhibition is brightening up the place. Full of colourful prints, paintings, photos, short films and of course surfboards. It’s enough to inspire you to get the next plane out of Bristol airport to catch some waves somewhere warm and sunny!
